Neil, Rick & Brian

As if I wasn't already excited enough for Neil Diamond's Rick Rubin-produced new album - 12 Songs - I just found out that the initial release will include a bonus track with Brian Wilson. Can it get any better than this?! Leather jacketed Brooklyn-road maverick meets the man behind Johnny Cash's comeback meets the other most talented songwriter the world has, and may ever, witness.

Let's not forget that before the sequins and duets with Barbara Streisand, this man was writing songs with an edge and energy hitherto unknown to american music. He wasn't necessarily "rock and roll," but he wasn't as "pop" as the Monkees made "I'm a believer" out to be either. Songs like Cracklin' Rose, Brooklyn Roads and Holiday Inn blues are much darker than their easy and rollicking melodies suggest on the surface...
