Q: Where's the Beef? A: Our freezer.

Vegetarian Alert: This post is all about eating cows.

Eating local is one of the easiest ways to make an unImpact on the environment as it cuts down on transportation energy and is generally raised/grown in ecologically sensitive ways (ie. less chemicals). If you haven't read the bible of local eating (The 100 Mile Diet) borrow it from the library or a friend (or buy one to pass around yourself) today.

With this in mind (and considering it's Blog Action Day for the Environment): Hil and I and 5 other couples went 6 ways on a quarter of a cow from Ireland Farms. Gabe picked our local beef up on Friday and we sorted and delivered the bounty yesterday. Before it ended up in our freezers, the bovine had the run of the range and a life free from antibiotics. Needless to say we're pretty stoked to make some lasagna with the hamburger from it tonight. Next up will be a local turkey for Christmas...and maybe some chicken for the freezer.
