The Move

If we haven't been able to tell you in person yet: Hilary and I are moving to London, Ontario toward the end of May this year.

To make a long story short: both our families are spread across Ontario and the thought of raising our own family* without the influence of the aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents that we were so blessed to grow up with was something we couldn't imagine.

All that said, when you're "going to" rather than "running from" these decisions are never without pain and loss. In the collective 16 years that we've lived out here we've shared our lives with friends-as-good-as-family, met and fallen in love (sweet love) with each other, and grown immeasurably. Truly, we'll be leaving thousands of little pieces of our hearts all over this island. It's been a great run, and I'll keep it from getting sappy and leave it at that....

I'm sure I'll be blogging about the move more as the months move along, but we wanted to let any of you who hadn't heard yet know of our plans.

*before you go and get all baby-crazy on us: we're not planning on having a baby right away. Of course, we'll keep practicing, but a James Jr. or little Hil is (fingers crossed) still a few years away :)

It sounds like Vancouver's loss is going to be London's gain. And yes, it's a great place to raise a family! :)

James,

This saddens me greatly. You (and Hil) were some of the people that made Victoria 'home' for me, and believe it or not, you were a huge inspiration to me in more ways than one. I'll never forget the night of staying up til 3 AM (or whatever it was) working on that crazy video, with the snow coming down outside.

Anyways, even though I left Victoria well before you, it still leaves a bit of a hole knowing you'll be on the other side of the country. I guess this finally gives me a reason to visit southern Ontario one day.

Let me know if there's going to be a going-away party, I'll try and be there.

James, it would be a lie if we said we didn't see this coming...the photos and stories you show from your trips back to Ontario realy really show how much families mean to you both. Roots run deep.
You'll be missed...your creativity, encouraging words, your friendship, your radical thinking. You gotta promise to keep the blog going...keep us in the groove.
And hey, lunch is long over due...we got to do it. Peace...Ron+

Dude,

Speaking on behalf of Caitlin and I, it was a pretty huge blow when you told us, especially since we just came BACK from L-Town. However, we love you both so much and support your decision. I guess it is one more reason for the two of us to head back SW Onterrible for a visit!

fowgre: as sad as we are to leave, we are looking forward to london's vibe. they've got some great neighbourhoods back there.

jordan: dude, was that ever an epic night of editing! nothing like being creative "on demand" huh! you'll have to swing by southwestern ontario now for sure.

ron:don't worry buddy, this blog will keep rolling along for sure! and i'm good for lunch most days next week...email me and we'll work something out.

bing:i gotta say that hil and i were pretty bummed to learn that you were leaving the forest city so soon after arriving, we had our fingers crossed that us four might wreak havoc amidst the thunderstorm capital of canada for at least a little while! but i guess family calls both ways eh?! that could be a hallmark card of sorts...
