Twitter to get (more) local

It looks like Twitter is getting close to becoming an even more useful tool for fans of all-things-local.

".. with accurate, tweet-level location data you could switch from reading the tweets of accounts you follow to reading tweets from anyone in your neighborhood or city—whether you follow them or not. It's easy to imagine how this might be interesting at an event like a concert or even something more dramatic like an earthquake. There will likely be many use cases we haven't even thought of yet which is part of what makes this so exciting."

Personally, I'm quite looking forward to this feature as one of the most useful thing I've found about twitter so far is for checking the pulse of the city.

What I'm really excited about is the day we can get things down to the neigbhourhood level (without having to resort to #hashtags).
